“People are just as wonderful as sunsets if I can let them be…when I look at a sunset, I don’t find myself saying, ‘soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner’. I don’t try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.”—Carl Rogers
“To be fully alive, fully human and completely awake is to be continually thrown out of the nest. To live fully is to be always in no-man’s land, to experience each moment as completely new and fresh.”—Pema Chodron
You will move, of course, because all of life is moving - it cannot not move - and you cannot not move, either.
But you can try.
This will cause you pain. And it will prove fruitless. For nothing remains static. Nothing goes unchanged. Nothing stands still. Everything moves, all of the time. Allow yourself then, to go with the flow. Ride the tide. Catch the wave.
You will drown if you do not. Then the wave will have it’s way with you.
You see, the wave will have its way - you may as well get that straight. It will take you exactly where it is going.
The difference in the quality of your life, therefore, depends directly upon how you answer the next question:
Are you content to simply ride the waves, allowing them to carry you wherever they may go, or do you intend to go where you want to go?
If you choose the latter, there is only one way you can create that.
“She seems so cool, so focused, so quiet, yet her eyes remain fixed upon the horizon. You think you know all there is to know about her immediately upon meeting her, but everything you think you know is wrong. Passion flows through her like a river of blood. She only looked away for a moment, and the mask slipped, and you fell. All your tomorrows start here.”—Neil Gaiman
